How to Use the My JH Landing Page

The My JH landing page is the entry point to the Johns Hopkins myJH portal at my.jh.edu. Users select Log In to reach Johns Hopkins Enterprise Authentication, while new affiliates may need to establish their JHED account before portal access works.

This independent guide is not operated by or affiliated with Johns Hopkins University or Johns Hopkins Medicine.

The phrase “my jh landing” usually reflects a navigational search rather than the name of a separate product. The page leads Johns Hopkins students, faculty, staff and other eligible affiliates to applications, directory information, email, password tools and institution-specific resources.

What is the My JH landing page?

The My JH landing page is the public front door to myJH, the Johns Hopkins portal for institutional applications and information. The page itself contains Log In and Forgot Password? controls and describes myJH as an access point to hundreds of Johns Hopkins web applications.

MyJH should not be confused with similarly named services, including Jackson Hewitt’s MyJH tax account. Search results can place both products near each other, but the Johns Hopkins portal uses the jh.edu domain.

Check the domain first.

A user seeking Johns Hopkins email, employee systems, course resources or the institutional directory should begin at the Johns Hopkins page rather than a third-party login directory.

How do I log in to myJH?

Open the myJH homepage and select Log In. Johns Hopkins support materials describe the next screen as Enterprise Authentication, where the user signs in with the identity associated with the JHED account.

JHED means Johns Hopkins Enterprise Directory. The JHED Login ID, also called a JHED ID or JHED LID, is used to identify users and grant access to resources such as email, course registration and employee payroll systems.

Use the Johns Hopkins landing page first. Skip saved login pages whose domain or purpose is unclear.

Some applications use Johns Hopkins single sign-on, so a user who has authenticated may be able to open other protected web resources during the same browser session without signing in separately each time.

How do first-time users create a JHED account?

First-time access is different from an ordinary login. The myJH landing page provides a route for users who need to create or initialize a JHED account, and the myJH support site maintains separate account-creation guidance.

Incoming students generally receive a system-generated message containing their JHED ID a few weeks before matriculation. Johns Hopkins directs students who did not receive that communication to Student Enrollment and Account Management (SEAM).

New faculty and staff normally receive their JHED ID from a manager, supervisor or departmental human-resources representative on or before the start date.

Returning affiliates need extra care. Johns Hopkins says a previous affiliate should ordinarily be reassigned the original JHED ID. A returning user who receives a different ID is instructed not to set up that new account and to contact the IT Help Desk so the identity issue can be reconciled.

That is a concrete mistake to avoid. Creating the second identity may lead to access problems across applications tied to the original JHED record.

What appears after login?

MyJH acts as a personalized directory of Johns Hopkins tools and resources. The portal’s search area can find people, applications, departments and topics.

Search results appear first as complete results and can then be narrowed by category or tag. A separate JH Enterprise Directory search is used for people, departments and related directory information.

Users can select the information icon on a resource tile to see more details. They can also select the heart icon to place a resource in My Favorites.

Favorites become the first row of tiles. Johns Hopkins says there is no limit to the number of resources that can be favorited, and the most recently added favorite appears in the first position.

Pin the tools used every week. Skip repeated broad searches for the same email, payroll or course application.

The portal also displays Recommended Tools + Resources, described as frequently used applications curated according to what is available to the individual user.

Why does myJH show Action Required?

Approximately every six months, myJH can enter a restricted state called Action Required. During that state, the user is asked to review information in myProfile and may need to inspect new settings or options.

Access to the rest of the site remains restricted until the review is completed and the profile is confirmed or saved.

This is expected portal behavior, not necessarily an account failure.

Open myProfile, review the available information and use Save myProfile after making or confirming the relevant entries. Johns Hopkins says some fields cannot be edited directly; students may need to work through the Registrar’s Office, while faculty or staff may need a departmental administrator.

Do the profile review first. Skip repeated sign-outs when the screen explicitly says Action Required.

How do I change a myJH password?

A user who can still sign in can open the profile menu near the upper-right portion of myJH and select Change Password. The official instructions then require the old password and a new password that meets the displayed rules.

Johns Hopkins currently states that a JHED password must be between 8 and 40 characters and contain characters from at least three of four categories: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. It cannot contain the JHED ID or parts of the user’s name and must differ from the previous four passwords.

Passwords are generally active for 365 days, after which the user receives a notice requiring a change. A password can also be changed earlier.

For a user who cannot sign in, use Forgot Password? from the official landing page rather than the in-session change procedure.

Never provide a password or multifactor authentication code to someone who contacts you unexpectedly. Johns Hopkins states that its personnel will not call or email users asking for either item.

Why can’t I find an application?

Application visibility can depend on the user’s Johns Hopkins role, school, organization and assigned access. The portal’s recommended resources are curated according to availability, so two users may see different tiles.

Start with Search Tools + Resources and enter the application name or a related term. Use Filter by Tag when the initial results are too broad.

For MyCloud, Johns Hopkins Student Affairs documents a more specific issue affecting some online students. A user may need to open the profile menu, select My Profile, scroll to Primary Campus, choose Homewood and save the profile before trying MyCloud again.

That procedure is application-specific. It should not be applied to every missing myJH tile.

Some remote resources also have additional requirements. Johns Hopkins remote-access guidance says MyCloud may require Azure multifactor authentication and Citrix Workspace, while certain protected resources require MyCloud or the institution’s supported remote-access service rather than browser access alone.

What should I do when My JH landing is not working?

Define the failure first.

When the public landing page opens but Log In does not lead to the expected account, confirm that the browser is on the jh.edu domain and that the user is attempting to use the correct JHED identity. Returning affiliates should check whether an older JHED ID already exists.

When login succeeds but the portal appears locked, look for Action Required and complete the myProfile review.

When one application is missing, search by application name and category before treating the entire portal as unavailable.

When remote access fails, check whether that resource requires MFA, a supported client or access through MyCloud. Requirements vary by application and user group.

Contact the Johns Hopkins IT Help Desk when the identity, account creation or application assignment cannot be resolved. The myJH support site lists (410) 516-HELP and (410) 955-HELP (4357) and also provides a problem-reporting route.

Frequently asked questions

Is My JH landing an official Johns Hopkins page?

The Johns Hopkins landing page is hosted at my.jh.edu.

What is a JHED ID?

It is the Johns Hopkins Enterprise Directory login identifier used for myJH and many other institutional resources.
